Harold "Sammy" Round

He was a Black & Tan, captured while spying on duty and executed by drowning. It is not clear if this was Round's choice as a method of execution, or the IRAs. The IRA Witness Statements vary on the detail, but Round was caught in Civilian clothesa and admitted spying, and was executed by drowning

1915 Jan 18. Enlisted. He was living at 14 Victoria St, Llanbradach. Claiming to be 19years and 11 months . So adding 3 years to his age. He was a miner

1917 Mar 17 Disembarked Salonica with

1918 Dec 29, Returned to UK for release as a Miner

1919 Mar 13. Married (RIC record) to Lilian Russell Pavey in Newport, Mon

 

1920 Sep 28. Enlisted as a Black & Tan in RIC, was posted to Roscommon and was serving when he died. He was a collier when he joined RIC
