1920 Nov 11. Brought to the notice of the Secretary of State for War by General H. S., Lord Rawlinson, G.C.B., G.C.V.O., K.C,M.G., A.D.C., Gen. General Officer Commanding-in-Ghief, Allied Forces, North Russia, for valuable and distinguished services rendered in connection with the operations in North Russia during the period 25th March to 26th September, 1919. —Dove, Lt. 1921 Feb 20 D'Arcy - Remembering the Dead , says that Dove took part in the assault on the IRA at Conmult when 13 Volunteers died.
1922 Apr 26. 4 British Soldiers were picked up by the I.R.A. at Dick William's Hotel in Macroom, County Cork. The three Officers had left Ballincollig Barracks and were driven by a Private from the Army Motor Transport Corps, and they had a Newfoundland dog with them. They were arrested by the IRA and on the evening of the 29th of April the three officers and the private were taken to Kilgobnet a few miles west of Macroom and shot.
1922 Jun 22. His parents put a notice in the Times saying he was believed to be dead.
1922 Sep 5. His father applies for his "late son's " medals
The Cork Examiner carried a report of a "little frail old man, "who came over from England and stood leaning on his stick while his son's body was removed from a bog hole in Clondrohid, which is a small village 4 miles north of Macroom.
1923 Nov 23. Probate granted to his father. This indicates that the government believe he was killed on 27 April 1922
1923 Dec 14. The bodies were later recovered, and Dove's’s funeral took place at Aldershot with military honours
1951 His father died in Southsea
