He was a Black & Tan, captured while spying on duty and executed by drowning. It is not clear if this was Round's choice as a method of execution, or the IRAs. The IRA Witness Statements vary on the detail, but Round was caught in Civilian clothesa and admitted spying, and was executed by drowning
